The 2013 men’s team is welcoming nine new members consisting of five new freshmen and three graduate students, and has eleven returning players from last year. After an intense preseason training camp, the Quakers are ready to return to action after finishing third in the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Division campaign behind Penn State and Villanova. Lead by senior captains Carlos Alonso and Nick Grover, Penn is hungry to return to the National Collegiate Club Championship after taking the 2010 division title and placing 10th on the national stage. The addition of several new players brings speed, firepower and experience to a talented and ambitious team which is looking to claim the program’s eight division crown.
In 2013, Penn will also compete in the Princeton Invitational Tournament on September 14-15 against the varsity teams of Princeton, Navy, Johns Hopkins and George Washington. This tournament represents a great opportunity to showcase the talent of our team on a prestigious stage against varsity opponents. It will also help the team get ready for the 2013 Ivy Championship against the Brown, Harvard and Princeton varsity teams as well as the club teams of Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth and Yale. This year the Ivy Championship will take place at the Sheerr pool on the Penn campus on October 19-20, and our goal is to win the trophy for the best club team in the Ivy League in front of our supporters.
